I am proud, I am beautiful and I am destined to accomplish something BIG. I am not your ordinary, play by the rules 50's girl. I am passionate and bold. I listen intently to you trying to find the true meaning of your words. Beware as I will give you my true opinion on what I hear.

Emily is showing off the victory of being the first one in her family to graduate from high school wearing the dress her mother made for the occasion in the 50's. She is proudly posed on the porch stand as her pedistal like a Greek Goddess for all of posterity. She is expressing pride in accomplishment and the confidence that engenders. The message may include that since she did it, that you can too. The wish is in the background, that all else in life will end triumphantly. Do not ask me if life gets harder, she just wants to go in to the next challenge, but not too quickly, not forgetting the current thrill of victory. She is comfortable with the environment and the photogragher. Maybe the photogragher is her boyfriend or her best friend, she is having a good time, enjoying the moment.

My first impression: pretty princess on a pedestal. Shall I pose for you?

Perhaps it's a new dress. The way she holds her hands on her waist and hips caught my eye.

I wish I could touch this photo...I may get another impression. I love old photos and the story that a camera tells.

Her brother just got a new camera and he wants to take a picture of her. She is somewhat impatient, yet she likes the idea of having her picture taken. What better time than after Sunday church, when she still has her good clothes on. The rest of the family is inside, getting ready to partake of their brunch. The sun is warm to the skin but not enough to burn.

The brother is figeting with the camera, he wants to do it right. His mind is filled with the things he read about "Taking a Good Picture" - things like placing the person in the light, pick an interesting angle, and don't move the camera when pushing the button.

She encourages her younger brother in his fumbling, but can also hear her stomach growling.

Their mother calls from the dining room for both of them to come in and have brunch.

He snaps the picture and Wha - la, "Hand on Hips #1" is created.

50 years later, the brother's son, is a graphic artist/photographer for an advertising agency that specializes in using famous women rock stars to promote architecture. The gene pool lives on.

She just finished high school last week.
that day she was trying on the new dress that her mum made for her 'cause on Friday will be a party with the school and all her mates will be there. Her father saw her coming with the dress and took the camera for a nice shot with her new dress. She was running around the house and went out, jumped in the steps' wall and her father finally took the shot.
